KASANS CITY, Mo. —The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are finally going mobile.
Wireless publisher uclick L.L.C. is teaming with 4Kids Entertainment Inc. and Mirage Licensing Inc. to produce mobile wallpapers, games, comic book readers and video from the cartoon superheroes. The content will be available in North and South America, and the first offerings will be available this summer. Other content will be released to coincide with a new Turtles feature film slated for release early next year.
An animated show based on the characters airs on Fox Saturday mornings.
“We plan to extend the Turtles brand through the increasingly popular use of mobile phones, effectively providing Turtles fans with the ability to enjoy action-packed games, videos and other fun features while on the go,” said Alfred R. Kahn, chief executive officer of 4Kids Entertainment. “This agreement is consistent with our strategy to expand the reach of our properties across multiple platforms.”
