Elliott to head Global Signal

SARASOTA, Fla.-Global Signal Inc. announced it has hired Jerry Elliott as its new president and chief executive officer, succeeding Wesley Edens, who will serve as chairman of the company’s board. Elliot recently served as president of Citizens Communications Co., a New York Stock Exchange-listed firm with revenues of $2.2 billion.

In addition, Global Signal said it named Steven Osgood its new chief financial officer to replace William Freeman, who plans to retire at the end of April. Osgood was president and CFO of U-Store-It Trust, a real-estate investment trust that owns and manages more than 350 properties in 25 states.

The nation’s third-largest tower company, Global Signal owns, manages or leases approximately 11,000 wireless communications towers and other communications sites. The company’s market capitalization is more than $3 billion.

News of Global Signal’s new leadership pushed the company’s stock up just 18 cents to $48.68 per share during morning trading last Wednesday on the NYSE.
