SunCom rolls out 60-day trial in select markets

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Regional operator SunCom Wireless Holdings Inc. is pushing out its usual 15-day return period to 60 days, essentially giving customers a two-month test drive of the carrier’s wireless services.

Starting Monday and lasting until June 30, customers in limited areas who sign up for a phone and two-year contract will have two months to test the phone and service before their return period expires. Customer can return the phone risk-free within 60 days, but are still responsible for airtime charges, data services, downloads and any other billable charge. The device must be returned in “good working condition,” the company said. The promotion also is available to current SunCom customers who are changing plans—so long as they live within the areas where the offer is extended.

“This industry-first offer will give potential customers the incentive to experience the SunCom difference, and we’re confident that once they try us, they’ll love us,” said Emilio Echave, SunCom’s senior vice president of operations.

The extended return period is available to customers in North Carolina; Rock Hill, S.C.; and the Tri-Cities area of Virginia and Tennessee. Consumers still have to pay a non-refundable activation fee.
