NASHUA, N.H.—GN said it plans to combine its professional and consumer headset divisions—GN Mobile and GN Netcom—to create what the company said would be the world’s largest wireless headset company. The new entity will employee 1,800 people and is expected to generate combined revenue this year of about $750 million.
Prior to the announcement, the two headset divisions had operated separate sales, marketing and development efforts while sharing the same production and supply chain functions. According to GN, combining the two operations will benefit its distributors and retailers by providing a single point of access to the company’s entire product line.
Last year, according to GN, the two divisions together obtained more than one-third of the world’s market share in wireless headsets, manufacturing more than 25 million headsets, amplifiers and other accessories, sold under the Jabra and GN Netcom brands. That represented a 50-percent increase from the prior year.
