PORTLAND, Ore.—Metro One Telecommunications Inc. announced the renewal of a multi-year contract to provide enhanced directory assistance for Midwest Wireless subscribers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Metro One’s 411 service provides movie listings and driving directions in addition to connecting customers with up to five phone numbers during one call. Minnesota-based Midwest is in the midst of being acquired by Alltel Corp., which said last year that it would drop Metro One’s services for its subscribers.
Metro One’s stock was up about nine cents, or 17 percent, in midday trading in response to the news.
