SAN DIEGO—Leap Wireless International Inc. and bidding partner Alaska Native Broadband 1 License L.L.C. continued their post-Auction 58 expansion by launching Leap’s Cricket service in Cincinnati. The service is available to approximately 1.8 million potential customers in the area and expands Leap’s Cricket service to 36.8 million pops nationwide.
With the Cincinnati launch, Leap said customers in the area will have access to a Midwest regional calling area that includes Dayton and Columbus, Ohio. The Columbus market is owned by CSM Wireless L.L.C., which operates service under the Revol brand.
ANB won nine licenses during the Federal Communications Commissions’ Auction 58 early last year covering 10.1 million pops.
Leap and ANB previously launched Cricket service in San Antonio, El Paso, Bryan and College Station, Texas; Colorado Springs, Colo.; and in Las Cruces, N.M.
