OVERLAND PARK—Sprint Nextel Corp. has begun selling a co-branded, slim clamshell phone with an internal antenna from Sanyo Corp., according to the carrier’s Web site. The phone appears to be the first Sanyo slim phone sold by the handset manufacturer’s exclusive U.S. retail partner Sprint Nextel.
The “Katana” is a half-inch thick and offers dual-band/tri-mode functionality, along with Bluetooth connectivity, a VGA camera and an external display. It is being sold for $80 with a mail-in rebate and a two-year service contract.
