The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.

Cellular
- Saudi Arabia: Nokia Corp. said it won a radio and HSDPA network order from Saudi Telecommunication Company.
- Singapore: Nokia and MobileOne signed an agreement calling for Nokia to supply an HSPA network in the country. The contract is valued at $30 million.
- China: ZTE said it has been chosen to build a CDMA and GSM solution for China Mobile and China Unicom for coverage along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway system.
Wi-Fi
- Jordan: Aptilo Networks said it signed an agreement to provide Wi-Fi equipment to Batelco Jordan to deploy Wi-Fi hot spots across the country.
- Kenya: Strix Systems said it won a contract with Kenya Data Networks to supply its Access/One Network Outdoor Wireless System and Indoor Wireless System to create a Wi-Fi service. The service initially will be offered in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret.
- The Netherlands: Trapeze Networks said it deployed a wireless local area network Mobility System for Walcheren Hospital in Vlissingen. The system covers the cardiology and pediatrics wards and provides applications such as capturing bedside digital electrocardiogram images and providing Internet access.
- United States: U.S. Wireless Online said the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership selected it to design, construct and operate a Wi-Fi system for the Central Business District/Golden Triangle, North Shore and Lower Hill District areas of downtown Pittsburgh. Also in the United States, Lincoln Property Company, which develops and manages military housing, awarded a contract to BelAir Networks to supply a high-speed broadband wireless access system for its Gateway Center and Naval Training Center communities in San Diego. In addition, Proxim Wireless won a contract with Washtenaw County, Mich., to provide its ORiNOCO Wi-Fi products to enhance communications at county facilities.
WiMAX
- United States: Airband Communications Inc. said it expanded its network into San Antonio, Texas, using equipment supplied by Alvarion.
Miscellaneous
- Hungary: Comverse Technology Inc. and Huawei Technologies Ltd. said they have been selected to provide IP Multimedia Subsystem network infrastructure and applications for Magyar Telekom’s T-Mobile and T-Com business lines.
- United States: Skyriver Communications said it is providing a wireless wide area network solution for the WiMAX forum’s member conference this week in San Diego.
