Veeker buys ThumbJive

SAN FRANCISCO—Mobile video upstart Veeker said it has acquired ThumbJive, a developer of youth-focused wireless applications.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Veeker, which has been operating in stealth mode, hopes to gain traction with technology that allows users to communicate instantly over mobile video transmissions. ThumbJive has teamed with Amp’d Mobile, Hands On Mobile, Digital Chocolate, HBO and Tiny Pictures to build applications for the Internet as well as a variety of wireless platforms.

“In a world where so many kids and young adults will have an Internet-connected video camera on them at all times, we believe they’ll communicate with one another with video peeks, or Veeks,” Veeker Chief Executive Officer Rodger Raderman said hopefully. “Their communication behavior will be transformative.”
