Intel to use Nokia HSDPA module

ESPOO, Finland—Nokia Corp. said it has developed an HSDPA connectivity module for notebook computers.

The module will be included with Intel Corp.’s next-generation Centrino Duo mobile technology platform, said Nokia.

“This collaboration is good news for notebook users as cellular technology offers superior connectivity and mobility for notebook and other portable device users,” said Heikki Tenhunen, head of Nokia’s Connectivity Module Business Program. “This is also a natural area for Nokia’s multiradio expertise to expand to.”

The news comes as a blow to other module suppliers including Sierra Wireless Inc. and Novatel Wireless Inc.
