WALL, N.J.—Centennial Communications Corp. introduced an unlimited local calling option for its customers in Puerto Rico.
For $50 per month, Puerto Rico wireless customers will get unlimited inbound and outbound local calling and have the option to add companions or family members to their unlimited plan for an additional $30 per month.
Michael Small, Centennial’s chief executive officer, called the new plan “a ground-breaking offer for the Puerto Rico market.”
Customers also can add feature and data bundles to the voice plan for between $5 and $20 per month. Their choices include SMS, MMS, BREW-based data downloads, Internet access, call waiting, caller ID and “enhanced phone care,” according to Centennial.
“Our customer surveys and market research suggest that customers simply don’t want the hassle of counting minutes,” said Carlos Blanco, president of Centennial de Puerto Rico. “The launch of our unlimited rate plan is a clear example of how we tailor our local offering to meet customer needs.”
Centennial reported an 11 percent drop in average revenue per user in its Caribbean operations during its most recent fiscal quarter. The carrier attributed the drop to continued growth in its prepaid services and increased adoption of companion plans in Puerto Rico.
Centennial also recently launched integrated Voice over Internet Protocol services for business and residential consumers in Puerto Rico.
