PALO ALTO, Calif.-Mobile entertainment technology developer mSpot rolled out an upgraded platform for wireless multimedia content.
The latest version of the company’s wireless music and video platform includes a community feature that allows users to recommend content to friends. The offering also features a new search component. The platform supports Java, BREW, and smart phones including Research In Motion Ltd.’s BlackBerry and Palm Inc.’s Treo.
MSpot, which has gained substantial traction powering several multimedia services for Sprint Nextel Corp., hopes to garner more carrier customers by packaging the technology with its content portfolio to deliver both white-label and mSpot-branded services.
“For 2007, we’re starting to look at broadening our carrier reach outside of North America,” said Daren Tsui, mSpot’s chief executive officer. “We’re now looking toward Europe, and we’re definitely interested in Asia.”
