MTV, Amp’d partner on comedy series

MTV Networks is partnering with Amp’d Mobile Inc. to produce a made-for-mobile comedy series.
The yet-to-be-named program, which is slated to come to market later this year, will be co-produced by Amp’d, MTV franchise Comedy Central and comedy writer and producer Donick Cary. The offering will be available on MTV Networks’ channels on Amp’d’s entertainment portal.
The announcement marks the first time the Viacom subsidiary has teamed with the mobile virtual network operator to produce original, made-for-mobile content. MTV has invested at least $50 million in Amp’d, however, and the firms have worked together on several other content offerings.
“MTV Networks and Amp’d Mobile are building an entirely new model for the creation, development and distribution of short-form programming for consumers to access on their handset,” said MTV executive Greg Clayman. “This process also will help us cultivate an entirely new generation of young filmmakers who are inspired to create works of art that can live on any screen.”
