The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
- Cellular
- India: Motorola Inc. said it signed an agreement with Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. to supply a UMTS network for Delhi and the National Capital Region.
- Sri Lanka: L.M. Ericsson said it has been chosen as the lead partner to build Dialog Telekom’s 3G/HSPA network in the country. Ericsson will supply the entire core network and most of the radio access network, according to the contract.
WiMAX
- Greece: The Hellenic Telecommunications Organization has selected Aperto Networks to provide its PacketMAX broadband wireless networking solution for a pilot deployment at Mount Athos in the Halkidiki region of northern Greece in advance of a nationwide rollout.
Miscellaneous- United States: Smartvue Corp. said the University of Arizona has chosen its Smartvue S4 IP video surveillance solution to provide security for assets and students. The solution is based on 802.11N technology.
