Hot on the heels of its first CDMA2000 1x EV-DO Revision A market launches, Verizon Wireless expanded the availability of the high-speed data service to more than a half dozen states.
The carrier’s new Rev. A markets include portions of Connecticut; Rhode Island, including Providence and Block Island; Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, Ind.; the San Francisco Bay Area, Fresno and Bakersfield, Calif.; Honolulu; Las Cruces, Los Alamos, Albuquerque and Santa Fe, N.M.; and El Paso, Texas.
Verizon Wireless announced earlier this week that Rev. A service was available in Chicago; Boston; Richmond and Hampton Roads, Va.; Salt Lake City and other cities in Utah; and across Florida.
Sprint Nextel Corp. kicked off its Rev. A rollout in San Diego in October and says it now covers about 95 million people in 24 major markets. Verizon Wireless has so far declined to specify the number of potential customers that it now covers with Rev. A service.
