UrbanWorld Wireless announced a high-profile advisory board in an effort to move beyond mobile content into the broader world of digital media.
The company has tapped a couple of familiar names: Jon Bukosky, managing partner at BFD/ventures and the former head of content at m-Qube, a mobile marketing company acquired by VeriSign Inc. for $250 million; and Mark Levy, the CEO of Maxxomedia and an executive at InfoSpace Inc. in charge of mobile content.
Other executives named to the five-person board include Keith Clinkscales, general manager of ESPN Publishing; Motorola Inc. Senior Product Manger LaSean Smith; and FUBU founder Daymond John.
UrbanWorld, which is known primarily as a ringtone vendor, hopes to expand into full-track mobile downloads, streaming video and other data services.
