Mino Wireless, a voice-over-IP mobile and wireless communications provider, announced that it has received $7 million in funding from the venture-capital firm Canaan Partners. Mino Wireless said its technology enables international calling from mobile phones via the device’s existing Internet connection.
Mino takes the budding field of VoIP one step further by enabling users to easily make international calls with equipment they likely already own, said Jing Liu, the company’s founder and CEO.
“Canaan believes in working intimately with emerging technology entrepreneurs to enable them to build and expand their business,” said Maha Ibrahim, general partner at Canaan Partners. “The mobile and wireless industry in particular has enormous potential in the near futures and our investment in Mino will help them succeed in the consumer and enterprise markets.”
