Yahoo Inc. inked a deal to deploy its Go for Mobile 2.0 offering on Microsoft Corp. Windows Mobile devices.
The Internet giant is partnering with Taiwan’s High Tech Computer Corp., the world’s leading provider of Windows-enabled smartphones, to embed the technology on “millions” of HTC handsets. The news follows similar deals announced earlier this year with Motorola Inc., Nokia Corp., Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and LG Electronics Co. Ltd.
Go for Mobile gives wireless users one-click access to services including Internet search, mapping, photo-sharing and e-mail. Yahoo has agreements to deploy the offering on 175 models, including more than 100 available today.
“There are millions of mobile phones on the Windows Mobile platform in the market today, and consumers with these devices want to use the most advanced, exciting services available,” said Marco Boerries, Yahoo’s senior vice president of connected life.
