Snell & Wilcox said it plans this week to introduce thee products designed to enhance mobile TV services quality and reduce bandwidth requirements.
The company specializes in image processing, conversion, switching and compression products for the film and television markets.
The company’s Protus Ph.C is a video-image conditioning system that increase quality and decrease bandwidth requirements by efficiently compressing video content. The bandwidth savings can be used to deliver higher quality images or to offer extra video channels, said the company.
The system is compatible with most video-compression encoders and all compression formats, said the company.
The company also plans to demonstrate its Helios Mobile Advanced Image-Processing System, which provides automated repurposing and delivery of content for mobile TV applications. The system, said the company, can focus the energy of the compression encoder on the parts of the image that are most important to the viewer.
Finally, the company said it will demonstrate its iCR Automated Content Mastering and Repurposing Workstation, that allows quick repurposing of video content. The product allows users to separate outputs that are optimized for different types of handsets or networks, said the company.
