Collisions for science
A handful of Virginia Tech football players will hit the field this year with wireless transmitters in their helmets designed to measure the impact the players undergo during the course of a game. The helmet sensors will transmit the information using the unlicensed 900 MHz spectrum band to computers on the sidelines. The collected information is expected to be used to start a nationwide database intended to help sports teams reduce concussions and other head injuries.

Mobile Smackdown!
A new game based on World Wrestling Entertainment is coming to gaming platforms and mobile phones. THQ Inc. and JAKKS Pacific Inc. are developing the multi-platform game. The mobile version of WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 will feature 12 WWE superstars as well as the ability to create a unique WWE superstar and regular, hardcore and cage match types. The mobile version also will come in 2D and 3D versions.
