Clearwire Corp. unveiled a handful of operating results for the first quarter, claiming “record subscriber growth” of more than 25 percent from its year-end 2006 customer levels. Clearwire said that it ended 2006 with around 206,000 wireless broadband users and had about 258,000 users at the end of the first quarter of this year, with quarterly net subscriber additions of approximately 52,000 customers. Clearwire said that the net adds figure was an improvement of 41 percent year-over-year.
Clearwire claimed customer churn during the first quarter was 1.6 percent.
Of Clearwire’s subscribers, more than 232,000 are domestic U.S. customers; 48,000 of its net adds were within the U.S. during the first quarter, compared with 40,000 domestic users added during the final quarter of 2006. Clearwire also offers service in Ireland, Belgium and Denmark.
Clearwire said that it will release full first-quarter results after the market closes on May 8, with its first investor conference call on the following day.
