Verizon Wireless said it added a variety of new features to its VZ Navigator location service.
The new Place Messaging feature allows customers to send directions to their contacts through a new Messages option. Recipients who have the VZ Navigator service can access the directions directly through the service, while non-subscribers receive directions via text messages.
Verizon Wireless also launched a new VZ Navigator Web site, which allows customers to search for locations from their personal computer and retrieve saved searches from their phone.
Finally, the carrier added a synchronization feature that allows customers to sync searches from the VZ Navigator Web site with files on their phones. The network automatically detects whether folders need to be synced and prompts users to take action, according to Verizon Wireless.
VZ Navigator costs $10 per month for unlimited access or $3 for one day of usage.
