Infrastructure awards wrap-up: Nokia Siemens, Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson and more

The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
Cellular
–China: Heilongjiang MCC selected Nokia Siemens Networks to expand the carrier’s GSM network.
–India: Nokia Siemens Networks said it won a contract with Maxis Group to build a greenfield GSM network in Kolkata. Nokia Siemens also said it will integrate and host the interactive mobile game “Master of Maya” for Maxis.
–Pakistan: Alcatel-Lucent said it has been chosen by China Mobile Pakistan Ltd. to provide equipment to expand the carrier’s GSM network in northern Pakistan.
–Uruguay: Antel chose Alcatel-Lucent to supply and install a UMTS/HSPA network.
WiMAX
–Canada: Primus Telecommunications Canada Inc. and Mipps Inc. both selected Alcatel-Lucent to provide its Evolium WiMAX solution for market trials of 802.16e-2005 WiMAX service.
Miscellaneous
–Netherlands: Ericsson said it signed a five-year management services contract with KPN in the Netherlands for access network field maintenance.
–Russia: Nokia Siemens Networks said it is integrating Next Generation Network technology into the network of Moscow City Telephone Network.
–United States: Nortel Networks said it won a contract with Front Range Internet Inc. to deploy a wireless municipal network in Fort Collins, Windsor and Loveland, Colo. Nortel also announced it deployed a municipal wireless network in Greenville, N.C., for WindChannel Communications.
