LG Electronics Co. Ltd. said it plans to pre-load games from Digital Chocolate Inc. on “multiple” new handsets in the United States beginning this month.
The companies declined to disclose details regarding specific titles or handsets, and financial terms of the deal were not revealed. Digital Chocolate and LG will work together to market the new offerings.
“This partnership provides Digital Chocolate the opportunity to market our games to LG’s extensive consumer base,” said Digital Chocolate CEO Trip Hawkins, “allowing us to cast a wider net in the marketplace.”
Indeed, the pact could be a substantial win for Digital Chocolate, which has gained traction with community-themed games that stress multiplayer functionality and messaging features. But the company has yet to break into the pack of second-tier publishers-such as Glu Mobile Inc., Gameloft and I-play-that trail the dominating EA Mobile.
