Venture capital financing wrap-up: 4Info, Cequint, ERF Wireless and more

The following list includes venture capital and other investments into wireless companies announced this week.

–4Info: Gannett Co. Inc. led a $10 million series D funding round into 4Info, a mobile search, publishing and advertising company. Previous investors U.S. Venture Partners and Draper Fisher Jurvetson and new investor Sand Hill Capital also participated. The company said it will use the funding for further product development and to expand its sales and distribution teams.

–Cequint: ISherpa Capital led a reported $4 million round of financing into Cequint Inc., which developed caller ID technology for cell phones. Benaroya Capital, an existing investor, also participated. Nim Patel of iSherpa Capital will join the company’s board or directors in connection with the financing.

–Danal: Morgenthaler Ventures led a $9.5 million venture-funding round into Danal Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of South Korean-based Danal Co. Ltd., a mobile payment service company. The parent company also contributed to the financing.

–ERF Wireless: Dutchess Private Equities Fund Ltd. entered a $10 million funding commitment with ERF Wireless, which provides enterprise-class wireless and broadband products. The companies signed an Investment Agreement and Registration Rights Agreement. The Investment Agreement, in the form of an Equity Credit Line, provides for ERF Wireless to have the right to require Dutchess to purchase up to $10 million of the company’s common stock at a 7% discount to market over the course of 36 months after a registration statement has been declared effective by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

–Jentro: New Enterprise Associates invested $28 million in Jentro Technologies GmbH, a location-based mobile software and services company. Proceeds will be used to accelerate the company’s growth and increase sales and marketing efforts. Ravi Viswanathan and Paul Hsiao of NEA Partners will join the company’s board of directors as part of the financing.

–Ortiva: Comcast Interactive Capital led a $15 million series B funding round into Ortiva Wireless, which offers a solution for managing the mobile viewing experience. Existing investors Artiman Ventures, Mission Ventures and Avalon Ventures also participated. Louis Toth, managing director of Comcast Interactive Capital, will join the company’s board of directors in connection with the funding.

–PicoChip: Highland Capital Partners led a $27 million round of financing into picoChip, which provides WiMAX, HSPA and femtocell products.

–Visage: UMC Capital led a $10 million round of funding into Visage Mobile. The company said all of its previous investors also participated.
