Alltel Wireless plans to begin offering voicemail-to-SMS messaging from SpinVox to its 12 million customers, according to a new agreement between the two companies.
Subscribers to the service will have voicemail messages translated to text and sent to their handsets; the SpinVox service does not require a software download and works with any SMS-capable phone. The messaging service will let users see who called and what they said, and enable a one-click response to call or text back.
Alltel expects to start offering the service in the fourth quarter. No pricing has been announced.
