Vcast gets full-length Letterman, Ferguson broadcasts

CBS Mobile is pushing ahead full steam this month, announcing another deal with Verizon Wireless to put full-length episodes of its late-night programming on the carrier’s Vcast Video service.
The “Late Show with David Letterman” and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” will both be available in their entirety and commercial free, via the on-demand service.
“While we continue to provide short clips of our shows, we’re seeing a growing demand for the availability of full-length, network-quality shows on video-on-demand mobile video,” Cyriac Roeding, executive VP of CBS Mobile, said in a statement. “The ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ and ‘The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson’ have become some of the most-demanded shows in mobile and on the Internet, so it only makes sense that we fulfill the consumer request and help grow the popularity of these franchises. We are committed to innovation and are happy to help launch Verizon Wireless’ first full-length, video-on-demand programming on its Vcast service.”
Beginning today, each night’s full program will be available in a series of commercial-free video shorts. The shows will be available immediately following the nightly broadcast and remain accessible until the following night’s broadcasts replace them.
In other news, the network announced a new structure for its interactive sales team designed to better accommodate client and agency demand for cross-platform buying across television, online and mobile. The sales force will now be divided into three core areas: CBS SportsLine.com and CBS Mobile; the CBS Audience Network, CBS.com and CBSNews.com; and Last.fm.
