Simplicity is the name of the new game-finally, ease-of-use issues are at the forefront of carriers’ device offerings.
T-Mobile USA Inc. weighed in today with its HTC Corp.-built “Shadow” slider handset, with its “screamingly simple” user interface aimed squarely at consumers.
“This is not a productivity tool,” the carrier’s announcement boldly reads. “This phone is designed for people who have lives beyond work.”
The device will be available Oct. 31, the carrier said, for $150 with a two-year voice and data contract. T-Mobile USA’s “Total Internet” data plan has been reduced to $20 (from $30) per month.
The carrier touted the device as making calling, messaging and picture-sharing features easier to use, via the carrier’s MyFaves function, which now allows the user to send a call, text message, e-mail or picture, video or voice note, with one button from the MyFaves homescreen. The phone’s slider design includes a spin navigation wheel for quicker scrolling through icons and menus.
The phone features a 2-megapixel camera and supports T-Mobile USA’s EDGE network and Wi-Fi connections.
