The following list includes venture capital and other investments into wireless companies announced during the past week. The value of the investment is included when available.
–4INFO: Peacock Equity, a joint venture of GE Commercial Finance’s Media, Communications & Entertainment business and NBC Universal, invested an undisclosed amount into mobile media company 4INFO. The company will become NBC Universal’s preferred mobile SMS advertising partner as part of the investment.
–Atraverda: BankInvest New Energy Solutions and Espirito Santo Ventures led a $21.4 million Series B investment round into advanced materials company Atraverda. Existing investors Scottish Equity Partners, Chord Capital, Finance Wales, EnterTech Capital and OnPoint Technologies also contributed to the financing round. The company said it will use the funding to accelerate growth, enhance product development and develop further commercial opportunities.
–Millennial Media: Charles River Ventures led a $15 million Series B funding round into mobile advertising company Millennial Media. The company said it plans to use the funding to ramp up sales and international business development. CRV’s George Zachary joins the company’s board of directors as part of the financing.
–MobileStorm: EonBusiness invested an undisclosed amount into MobileStorm, which provides digital marketing products and services. The funding Series A round of funding will be used to accelerate strategic growth, for research and development and to increase marketing and sales spending.
–Telecom Transport Management: Columbia Capital and Battery Ventures led a $120 million Series D equity funding round into Telecom Transport Management Inc., which provides voice and data transport backhaul solutions. The initial investment is $55 million with a follow-on offering of $65 million. The company said it will use the funds to continue building its TDM and Ethernet backhaul networks for U.S. wireless carriers.
–United Mobile: Grazia Equity, Carrington Equity, Ammer!Partners and Geitner Investment have made an undisclosed investment into United Mobile, an international mobile communications provider. The funding follows a first round of funding from Morten Lund.
–YouMail: VantagePoint Venture Partners invested $4.5 million into mobile voicemail company YouMail during its series A funding round. Craig Cooper, venture partner at VantagePoint, joins YouMail’s board of directors in connection with the financing. YouMail said it will use the proceeds for further product development and marketing initiatives and to expand its management and development teams.
