BARCELONA, Spain – In a room too crowded to let in all the press, LG Electronics Co. displayed three new handsets with nice form factors, but little pricing or operator information.
The KF700 is a multimedia handset with three input methods: a 3-inch touchscreen, a shortcut dial and an alphanumeric keypad.
A phone with many functions is often not fully used because people don’t know where or how to access the feature, said Skott Ahnl, CEO of LG’s mobile communications business. The shortcut feature allows the user to identify six self-selected features by controlling a virtual dial on the screen.
The KF600 is touted as a “mind-reading interactive phone” by the manufacturer. It features an InteractPad that allows users to control virtual menu keys, which become larger as well as give the user vibration and a clicking sound to help the user.
Finally, the company introduced the KF510, a stylish and slim touch screen phone.
The company did not disclose pricing on any of the devices, but said the 600 would be launched in Europe and that the company hoped all phones would be launched worldwide.
