AT&T Mobility nearly finished with HSUPA upgrade

AT&T Mobility is set to put the icing on its 3G network cake. The industry’s No. 1 carrier said that by the end of June it expects to have its entire 3G network upgraded to High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) technology to complement the previous upgrade to High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology. Currently available in 275 markets, the network will be accessible in 350 markets by the end of June.
AT&T Mobility claims the HSUPA upgrade will boost average network speeds to between 500 kilobits per second and 800 kbps on the uplink to go along with the more than 1 megabit per second average downlink speeds offered by HSDPA. Now, the real question, Is this available on my device? Today, 75% of AT&T Mobility’s handsets are third-generation equipped and even more capable phones are set to release this summer.
AT&T Mobility’s feast is far from over as the carrier is still on track to deploy LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology using its extensive 700 MHz spectrum holdings.
