—Mpowerplayer: New Atlantic Ventures, the Center for Innovative Technology GAP Fund and LaunchBox Digital invested $2.5 million into Mpowerplayer, a company that allows carriers and mobile game developers to let customers try games online before purchasing them. The company said it will use the funding to accelerate adoption of its widgets-based mobile game catalog on social networks and game-oriented community Web sites.
—UIEvolution: Intel Capital invested an undisclosed amount in UIEvolution‘s Series A round of funding. The financing will be used to extending the reach of the company’s technology as it integrates services to drive content delivery. UIE founder Satoshi Nakajima also participated in this round and will have a seat on the board of directors.
