Pet enthusiasts have new mobile outlet

The mobile Internet has officially gone to the dogs.

Nestle Purina PetCare Company with the help of go2 Media has launched two mobile Web sites for pet owners. With the launch of Purina.mobi and go2pets, the home computer no longer has pet owners on a leash, according to a news release.

The sites will help pet owners locate pet-friendly businesses, get the latest pet news and download free ringtones, wallpaper, games and video. Go2pets can be used when dog and cat owners are looking for the nearest dog parks and dog-friendly restaurants. The site can also be used to find local veterinarians and police and fire departments when a pet owner is on the road.

Purina.mobi will also feature information about Purina’s line of dog and cat food and tips and ideas to care and relieve stress for pets.

“Working with a world-call brand such as Purina further demonstrates the mobile Web’s presence and future as a viable media channel, Rob Adler, go2 Media CEO, said in a statement released by the company.
