Brightpoint Inc. chose RedPrarie Corp. to provide Warehouse Management System and Transportation Management System solutions to enhance productivity in its supply chain operations. The solutions are expected to be implemented this year in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
In an effort to improve billing accuracy and increase customer satisfaction, SK Telecom has deployed Oracle’s Exadata Database Machine to power its new billing analysis and verification system. The Exadata Database Machine is a scalable data warehouse system. The carrier said the solution has increased its query processing performance by ten times over its 20TB data warehouse.
Nationwide prepaid provider Platinumtel signed a distribution agreement with Budget Prepay, which will carry Platinumtel’s full product line. Budget Prepay offers low-cost prepaid phone service in 46 states. Platinumtel, which operates on a 3G network, offers a variety of no-contract prepaid plans including basic plans starting at $5 a month to unlimited plans that include data services and international calling plans.
Nuance Communications said its VSuite embedded speech software is shipping with the Dell Mini 3i smart phone offered by China Mobile and the Dell Mini 3iX from Brazilian carrier Claro. The software allows the Android-based devices to dial contacts and search applications using voice commands.
Mobile advertising solutions company Nexage has partnered with Unanimis, a digital advertising network in the United Kingdom. The partnership calls for Unanimis to integrate Nexage’s AdMax platform into its ad network. Nexage said its AdMax platform reduces the time and cost to manage inventory and revenue, increases ad fill-rate and eCPM, and allows direct control of how advertising is served on mobile sites.
ADC Telecom said two carriers have deployed its InterReach Fusion, InterReach Unison and FlexWave Prism distributed antenna systems to increase voice and data capacity during the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl at Sun Life Stadium in Miami.
Teletouch Communications Inc. reached a national agency agreement with Sprint to resell the carrier’s communications, data and entertainment services to customers. The two-year Authorized Representative Agreement is with Sprint subsidiary Sprint Solutions Inc.
Syniverse Technologies said it has been chosen by Cox Communications to support its CDMA mobile voice network with a suite of mobile messaging roaming and network solutions. The deal builds on an existing relationship between the two companies, under which Syniverse provides SS7 service support.
UTStarcom Inc. said it will outsource its manufacturing operations to Sanmina-SCI Corp. as part of a restructuring and cost-saving effort. The agreement calls for Sanmina-SCI to provide electronics services for UTStarcom’s products currently being built in the company’s Hangzhou facility. Sanmina-SCI’s services will include new product introduction support, material sourcing and procurement, printed circuit board assembly, system integration and testing, final pack-out and delivery, said the companies.
