Brightpoint Inc. said it expanded a strategic alliance with Research In Motion Ltd. to provide logistics and supply chain services for BlackBerry smartphones in Indonesia. In connection with the deal, Brightpoint appointed Teletama as a distributor for BlackBerry products in Indonesia. Teletama will provide distribution capabilities along with retail outlets.
InterDigital Inc. said its patent-holding subsidiaries entered a non-transferable, non-exclusive royalty-bearing patent license agreement with Enfora Inc. The agreement covers the sale of machine-to-machine modules, M2M devices and PC cards designed to operate with 2G and 3G cellular standards.
Rogers Communications Inc. and Novatel Wireless Inc. launched the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2372 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot, which is the newest addition to Roger’s Rocket portfolio of mobile internet devices that offer high speed internet access.
AT&T Inc. and LM Ericsson launched the AT&T Connection Kit for Device Developers, which contains everything needed to integrate machine-to-machine devices with AT&T’s network.
Clearwire Corp. selected Tellabs Inc.’s SmartCore 9100 platform for its 4G WiMAX network in Spain. Clearwire already uses the product within its U.S. operations.
Kore Telematics and Motorola Inc. announced a collaboration to obtain device approval for the MedApps HealthPal MA106 and the M2M Communications Tracker.
Novatel Wireless and WSA Distributing Inc. announced a master purchase agreement that calls for WSA to offer Novatel’s product line to its customers throughout the Americas. Novatel also announced it formed an agreement with Spirent Communications and AT4 to collaborate on the next phase of LTE devise testing.
PacketVideo said it has been chosen by AT&T to help the carrier bring its new end-to-end mobile music service to market. The new service will integrate online genre and personalized radio stations, melody match and lyric lookup services, along with the ability to purchase and download songs and albums.
Syniverse Technologies entered a nine-year alliance with RealNetworks Inc. to use its intercarrier short message service platform to power the company’s peer-to-peer messaging interoperability solutions. The deal is an extension of a previous agreement between the companies under which Real provides the technology behind Syniverse’s intercarrier SMS solution in the Americas.
ZTE Corp. and Qualcomm Inc. forged a development agreement that calls for ZTE to use Qualcomm’s Femtocell Station Modem chipset platform to develop CDMA2000 femtocell products.
