Motorola names new execs

Motorola Inc. named Mark Shockley SVP of Global Go-to-Market for the company’s Mobile devices business where he will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Motorola’s mobile device sales operations around the world. Shockley will report to Motorola Co-CEO Sanjay Jha.
Shockley has been at Motorola since 1979, most recently as SVP and GM for the Americas Region Go-to-Market division.
Motorola also appointed Frank Meng corporate VP and president, Greater China for its mobile devices business. Meng will be responsible for all aspects of Motorola’s mobile device business in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Meng most recently served as corporate SVP and president of Qualcomm Inc.’s operations in the region and will report to Shockley in his new position.
According to a report from iSuppli Inc., Motorola slipped to the No. 6 in worldwide mobile device shipments during the fourth quarter of 2009 behind ZTE Corp. having shipped approximately 12 million devices during the final three months of the year.
Motorola announced earlier this year that it planned to split its operations in early 2011 with one half containing its consumer-oriented mobile devices and television set-top box division and the other focused on its enterprise business. Jha, who previously served as COO at Qualcomm, is set to head up the consumer mobile devices and set-top box division.
