The Current State of Mobile Devices

A revolution is afoot in the mobile industry. A revolution being led by device makers that finally appear to have all of the tools at their disposal to produce mobile devices that consumers not only want to buy, but in some cases it appears can’t live without.
Networks capable of supporting high-speed data services, as well as the reach to deliver those services almost anywhere; carriers willing to help bring the price of devices down to a level that almost anyone can afford (in exchange for a signature on a contract, or course); operating systems that are indeed mobile versions of what people are used to on their personal computers, but easier to use; and developers climbing over themselves to bring hundreds of thousands of applications to storefronts in hopes of striking it rich.
All that device makers need to do is find the right combination of parts, wrap them in an attractive design and the world will be their oyster. Of course, nothing is quite that simple in the real world, but with most analysts expecting the mobile industry to rebound from its flat year-over-year sales in 2009, the chance for success is there.
Please join RCR Wireless News Editor Dan Meyer as he delves deeper into the current state of mobile devices. Joining Meyer will be Brad Akyuz, Senior Analyst, Mobile Devices at Current Analysis Inc.
Here are just a few of the topics to be covered:
–How are carriers adapting to increased demand for smartphones?
–How are consumer interests evolving both domestically and internationally?
–Which handset makers are in the best position to take advantage of consumer demand?
–Has the OS battle peaked, or has it only just begun?
