With Apple’s new 4G iPhone in the pipelines, Samsung the world’s number two handset maker is showing what its got, with two new hot phones of its own.
With a stall surrounded by scantily clad, beautiful Korean representatives, Samsung pulled out all the stops to present the Galaxy Android and Wave Bada phone at the IT world expo in Seoul last week.
Samsung plans to launch its phones on June 8th in Seoul, synchronising its launch date with Apple’s 4G launch in San Francisco – going head to head in smartphone war.
Galaxy has a 2.1 version of android, 4 inch Am-oled screen, 1 gigahertz processor and up to 16 gig of internal memory.
Sources report that Samsung aims to sell its Galaxy phone through 100 different carriers worldwide, and that it already has one million orders from Telcos under its belt.
Samsung hopes the Galaxy phone will increase its slice of the smartphone cake, a boost it hopes will rocket it to er… outer space. The Bada Wave – currently being sold in some European countries – is also hoped to bring in a flood of sales.
Sources report, however, that Samsung’s Bada software does have some teething problems, including frequent system crashes.
Sure enough we can confirm that while this RCR reporter tested the phone, the camera froze, whilst the representative apologised profusely.
The phone does have an impressive screen (see video), quick to respond to touch and looks the part, but this reporter found the buttons awkward to manipulate, and not positioned in a user friendly place.
On the floor, Samsung gave visitors the option of winning some goodies in a game involving an enormous dice.
Between the display of attractive phones, attractive representatives and huge flying dice, Samsung definitely provided a lot for us to look at.
