Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) teamed up with the Georgia Institute of Technology to establish the Qualcomm Augmented Reality Game Studio, a research and design center aimed at pioneering new advancements in mobile gaming and interactive media.
Mobile TeleSystems (MBT) said it won a 2010 Meffys Mobile Entertainment Award in the Cross-Platform Technology category for its Omlet.ru content portal. The company launched the portal last year. The portal provides a selection of licensed movies, music and games for mobile and computer users.
British Airways and OnAir launched an inflight mobile portal called Club Mobile services for use by passengers traveling on the airline’s London City New York-JFK route. Passengers will be able to use the portal to access real-time travel-related services and information.
Andrew Solutions announced it tested the interoperability of its GeoLENs Location Information Server at a recent National Emergency Number Association event. The product provides a location for callers who are using Internet-based telephones on cable or DSL networks.
Novatel Wireless Inc. (NVTL) introduced its Expedite E351, Expedite E362 and Expedite E371 embedded modules. The modules are optimized for power efficiency, thermal performance and weight, said the company.
Virgin Mobile USA added Novatel Wireless’ MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot to its Broadband2Go portfolio. The device allows Wi-Fi-enabled device users to connect to 3G prepaid wireless Internet service without a contract, subscription or activation fee, said the companies.
Research In Motion (RIMM) announced the availability of a free eBay application for Blackberry smartphones in six additional countries, including Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. The application allows users to search, bid, buy and check their eBay activity using their Blackberry device.
DAX Technologies launched its InTouch Customer Experience Management solution. The product is designed for wireless operators and other communications services providers and provides current situational and stored historical data, detailed analysis and proactive remediation recommendations for customer service experience issues.

The PUMA Phone, which is targeted at 18-30 year old subscribers, combines onboard sports-lifestyle features and technology with a unique user interface and connected services.
Gemalto (GTO) said its MEDEA+ ONOM@TOPIC+ project won the Eureka Innovation finalist trophy. The Pan-European award recognizes Gemalto’s innovation in providing citizens with secure interoperable eGovernment services and in delivering advanced mobile solutions.
Talley Inc., a mobile products distributor, expanded its business to include an East Coast warehouse and sales facility in New York. The facility expands the company’s logistic footprint to seven locations.
