Tyco Electronics (TEL) reached a deal to purchase ADC Telecommunications (ADCT) for $1.24 billion. Tyco will pay $12.75 per share for ADC. The deal boosts Tyco’s presence in the network-equipped products market.
Synchronoss Technologies (SNCR), which provides on-demand transaction management software platforms, announced it entered an agreement to purchase FusionOne, a privately held company that provides mobile content transfer and synchronization technology. Syncrhonoss expects to pay about $40 million for the company, including $32 million in cash and $8 million in stock.
Nokia (NOK) said it divested its holding in MetaCarta Inc. to Qbase Holdings. Nokia will retain MetaCarta’s geographic intelligence technology, which it uses in its local search and other services. Nokia acquired the company in April.
me2me, a supplier of Web and voice services, said it completed its merger with iSpeech. The combined company will operate under the me2me name and will offer iSpeech’s dictation, workflow management and speech recognition product Frisbee as a downloadable mobile smartphone application.
Internet safety firm SafetyWeb acquired online security technology company Odojo, which is known for its firebreak technology that allows parents to monitor their children’s social networks for inappropriate content. SafetyWeb was launched in May 2010 and offers similar services that can be accessed from computers and mobile phones.
3g.cn, a WAP portal in China, said it secured more than $100 million in its third round of funding. Investors included China Broadband Capital Partners L.P., IDGVC Partners, JAFCO Investment, and WI Harper Group.
Mobile TeleSystems (MBT) said it submitted documentation to Comstar – United TeleSystems JSC regarding a voluntary tender offer that calls for the company to acquire up to 37.6 million Comstar ordinary shares that MTS doesn’t already own. The purchase price is about $7.16 per share, and the purchase represents 9% of the issued capital of Comstar.
Adtran Inc. (ADTN) reported sales of $150.4 million for the second quarter, up 24% from $121.5 million for the same period last year. Net income increased 47% to $27.8 million, or 44 cents per share, for the quarter, compared with $18.8 million, or 30 cents per share, during the second quarter last year.
CalAmp Corp. (CAMP) said its revenues for the second quarter were $26.3 million, up 15% from revenues of $23 million during the year prior. Net loss for the quarter was $2.5 million, or 9 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $1.1 million, or 4 cents per share, during the second quarter last year.
Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) declared a quarterly cash dividend of 19 cents per common share, payable Sept. 24 to shareholders of record on Aug. 27.
