Partnerships: MetroPCS chooses Seven solution; Motorola, Nokia enter 4G license agreement; and more

Seven, which provides push-enabled mobile messaging solutions, said MetroPCS has deployed its push mobile e-mail technology for its mail@Metro consumer e-mail service. Seven’s service provides an interface to get real-time e-mail delivery from popular e-mail services.
Motorola Inc. and Nokia Corp. announced they have entered a 4G license agreement that extends an existing intellectual property licensing agreement between the two companies to include 4G cellular technologies like LTE, WiMAX and LTE-Advanced. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Brightpoint said its German subsidiary Brightpoint Germany GmbH expanded its existing relationship with E-Plus Group. Previously the companies collaborated on the smartphone and mobile telecom accessories markets. The expanded relationship covers supply chain solutions including reverse logistics and a new concept to handle reverse logistics for E-Plus mobile phones in Germany.
Amdocs and Vesta Corp. announced a partnership agreement aimed at helping carriers improve prepaid customer experiences. The companies created a prepaid charging and top-up solution by combining Vesta’s top-up service with Amdocs Prepaid, a software solution for service creation and delivery, real-time charging, and customer management.
AT&T partnered with Bug Labs to launch BUG + 3G/GSM, a plug-and-play electronic toolkit that provides network-ready wireless modules to device product developers. The toolkit speeds time to market by bypassing the typical network testing and certification requirements.
DragonWave formed a joint venture with India’s Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd. to provide packet microwave solutions to the Indian market. Dragonwave will own 50.1% of the equity in the joint venture, with HFCL owning the remaining equity. The joint venture will be based in Delhi and will use HFCL’s local knowledge to sell DragonWave’s products.
Sequans and Huawei entered a partnership to develop TD-LTE technology for global markets. The companies have already been working together on TD-LTE, and the pair recently conducted a trial of the technology in Guangzhou.
Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories and Alcatel-Lucent said they will cooperate to conduct an end-to-end trial of LTE technology in Taiwan. The trial will incorporate both the 2.6 GHz and 700 MHz bands.
Redknee launched a customer experience management solution with KPN Spain. The company said the solution has reduced KPN’s volume of calls to its customer support center and has improved the carrier’s subscriber experience.
Myriad Group said it has joined the Wholesale Application Community as an associate member. WAC is a newly formed alliance of telecom companies committed to building an open applications platform.
Weather Central said it has been chosen to provide weather information for NDrive Navigation Systems. The company will integrate real-time Weather Central location-based weather services with its navigation software for delivery on Apple, Android, Linux, Symbian and Windows Mobile devices.
Mobile-commerce company Firethorn Holdings announced several agreements. The company said it was chosen by CU*Answers to provide its mobile application to its clients. It also has been selected by Austin-based University Federal Credit Union to offer its Firethorn mobile application to its members. Finally, Firethorn said footwear company Crocs Inc. has become its latest partner for the SWAGG mobile application. SWAGG allows customers to make purchases using their mobile device.
Boost Mobile partnered with Ultimate Fighting Championship to become its official wireless partner. In conjunction with the sponsorship, Boost is launching a nationwide sweepstakes with prizes including a VIP viewing tour with a UFC fighter, Samsung Seek handsets with Boost Monthly Unlimited Service and a UFC prize package.
