Movers and Shakers: Gomez to lead Movius; Funambol appoints Chawla CEO; and more

Dominic A. Gomez has been named president and CEO of Movius Interactive Corp., which provides value-added communication services. Prior to joining Movius, Gomez was president of Purple Communications.
Funambol appointed Amit Chawla as its new CEO. He replaces Fabrizio Capobianco, who is transitioning to the positions of president and chairman of the board. Chawla most recently was CEO of Agito Networks
Motorola Inc. announced its board of directors as it moves forward under the Motorola Solutions Inc. name. The board members include company president and CEO Gregory Q. Brown and David W. Dorman, who is the non-executive chairman of the board. The rest of the board includes William J. Bratton, Michael V. Hayden, Vincent J. Intrieri, Judy C. Lewent, Samuel C. Scott, Douglas A. Warner, and John A. White. Motorola said Brown will become chairman of the company starting in May, while Dorman will transition to the role of lead independent director.
Clearwire Corp. said Sprint has nominated three candidates for election to Clearwire’s board of directors. The company nominated William R. Blessing, Mufit Cinali and Hossein Eslambolchi. Blesing is a consultant to Burns & McDonnell. Cinali is a managing director at Springwell Capital Partners. And Eslambolchi is a technical adviser to Ericsson. The election will take place this week to fill Clearwire’s three open board spots.
InfoGin, which provides mobile Internet browsing technology, appointed David Shimoni executive vice president of worldwide sales and marketing, where he will lead sales and marketing activities worldwide. Previously, Shimoni was senior vice president of worldwide sales at Networks In Motion.
Dick Amell has joined Bright House Networks as corporate vice president of video engineering and operations. Previously, Amell was vice president of engineering for Time Warner Cable.
Tim Lorello, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at TeleCommunication Systems, was re-elected to the E9-1-1 Institute board of directors. He also was elected vice president of the board. He originally was elected to the board in 2009.
