Tata names new CEO

India-based telecommunications provider Tata Communications Ltd. (TCL) named Vinod Kumar as its new managing director and CEO. Kumar, who is currently director of the company’s board, replaces N Srinath who has been appointed as the managing director and CEO at Tata Teleservices Ltd. and Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd.
Tata said the changes would take effect Feb. 1, with Srinath continuing his position as a non-executive director on Tata’s board as well as some of its subsidiaries.
Tata is currently the fourth largest mobile operator in India with nearly 81 million customers, or roughly 11.44% market share, according to a recent report by the country’s regulatory body.
