TOKYO: Japan’s top mobile operator, NTT Docomo, is likely to boast two million smartphone contracts by the end of March, compared with a forecast of 1.3 million, an executive said in an interview.
Senior executive vice president Kiyoyuki Tsujimura also said the company was considering launching a 4G tablet towards the end of the year, which will use Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless technology.
NTT Docomo last month became the first operator to launch a high speed LTE service in Japan, initially for computers, with LTE-compatible phones to go on sale in the financial year starting in April.
