Qualcomm invests $900,000 in ChaCha

Qualcomm Inc.’s (QCOM) venture capital arm, Qualcomm Ventures, has invested $900,000 in ChaCha Search Inc. The company extended its latest round of funding, closing an additional $3 million overall.
With this latest stage of investment, ChaCha has now raised almost $75 million from venture capitalists and angel investors since it was founded five years ago.
“ChaCha is pleased to welcome Qualcomm to its list of top-tier individual and institutional investors,” said Scott Jones, CEO at ChaCha. “As one of the world’s leading wireless technology companies, Qualcomm maintains a broad array of partnerships spanning the wireless industry. Their experience and insight into the global wireless ecosystem will help ChaCha continue to expand its service worldwide.”
Nagraj Kashyap, VP at Qualcomm Ventures, said: “ChaCha’s service has a natural consumer appeal and we think the company is well positioned to engage audiences worldwide through its innovative answers platform.”
