Rumors are currently swirling surrounding Samsung’s upcoming second tablet, with dubious videos and specs showing up all over the place, but AroundThe.Net claims to have it on “airtight” authority that Tab 2 will indeed be sporting Nvidia’s Tegra 2 chip as opposed to Samsung’s own Hummingbird processor.
ATN says its Korean source [Samsung insider?] has confirmed the upcoming tablet will indeed sport the ever popular dual core Tegra 2 processor from Nvidia, as well as Google’s Honeycomb (Android 3.0) OS.
A surprise spec, however, is the revelation the tablet will sport a 10 inch screen. Most previous rumors said Samsung’s Galaxy tab 2 would stick with its 7 inch form factor.
A 10 inch tablet would make Samsung a direct competitor to Motorola’s Xoom, which also sports Tegra 2 and runs Honeycomb. Indeed, it may be hard to tell the two apart.
ATN’s Korean source says the tablet will be unveiled on the evening of Sunday 13th February at the Samsung press conference at MWC in Barcelona, but we’re told it might even get an earlier showing.
We’ll keep our eye on this one.
