As more tablets come on to the scene, including Apple Inc.’s iPad 2 next week, AT&T Mobility has streamlined its billing options for this emerging device category.
Customers can now choose between prepaid or postpaid plans, both on month-to-month commitments, at near similar price points. Although, customers that select postpaid billing will get their first month of service free.
Regardless of prepaid or postpaid, 250 megabytes costs $14.99 and 2 GB costs $25. The biggest difference between prepaid and postpaid occurs when customers exceed their monthly allotment. Postpaid customers will be charged $10 per 1 gigabyte of overage while prepaid customers will only have the option to purchase an additional 2 gigabytes for $25.
“Tablets offer the convenience of mobile broadband virtually anywhere and our new billing options give customers the flexibility to choose how they prefer to be billed,” David Christopher, CMO for AT&T Mobility and consumer markets, said in a prepared statement.
