Want a MeeGo tablet? Go to Intel’s session at GDC

A lot of people like to dismiss and poke fun at MeeGo, but developers don’t seem put off by Intel’s OS offering. While Nokia’s betrayal was certainly a kick in the teeth for the chip maker, developers seem to be showing more than a passing interest in the software, showing up to developer sessions in droves.

Of course that might have something to do with the free MeeGo tablets Intel is dishing out to devs at its sessions, but even when the firm ran out of tablets at MWC two weeks ago, the sessions still packed out, to such an extent that we’re told the firm had to add an extra emergency session. And we repeat, this is after the free hardware was all gone.

Bolstered a bit by its recent success wooing the developer crowds, Intel is at it again at GDC in San Francisco this week, with a huge booth smack bang in the center of the showfloor. And the hardware is back!

We were assured by a rep at the Intel App-Up stand that any developer who attends the full two hour session about developing apps for MeeGo tomorrow will walk away with a tablet. There are two sessions, one starting at 12pm and the other at 3.30pm.

Anyone interested can register here, or try your luck showing up at the Marriott Marquis.
