RCR Wireless News has named Roberta Prescott editor in chief of RCR Wireless News Latin America, as the news group expands its global coverage of the mobile and wireless industry.
Prescott will be responsible for reporting news and analysis coming out the region, interviewing key stakeholders in Latin America as well as organizing events in the region as mobile and wireless technology continues to transform the region. She also will lead RCR Wireless News’ enterprise coverage, including cloud computing, as more businesses use mobile and wireless technology to improve productivity internally and externally.
“Mobile and wireless trends are global trends that impact major markets and communities differently at the local level,” said RCR Wireless News CEO and Editorial Director Jeff Mucci. “In order to continue our three-decade role as an industry news leader, we believe that it is critical to provide our readers with news, insights and analysis on how key trends like LTE, smartphones, the wireless cloud, enterprise mobility and spectrum policy are driving investment, innovation and economic growth on a country-by-country and region-by-region level. Adding Roberta’s enterprise and geographic editorial leadership is a natural progression for RCR Wireless News.”
Prescott has worked as an information and communication technologies (ICT) journalist since March 2005, when she started as a reporter with InformationWeek Brasil magazine and its website IT Web. In July 2006, Prescott was promoted to be the editor in chief, and, beyond the magazine and website, was in charge for all ICT products, such as IT events and CIO awards. In mid-2010, she was promoted to the position of executive editor, with responsibility for all the editorial products and content of IT Mídia, adding to those already mentioned the magazine and portal CRN Brazil, and awards as well as forums related to it. She graduated with a degree in journalism by the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas, has done specialization in journalism at the Universidad de Navarra (Spain, 2003) and has a Masters in Journalism at IICS – Universidad de Navarra (Brazil, 2010) and MBA – Executive Education at the Getulio Vargas Foundation.
“Latin America is seeing increased wireless activity as Brazil, Mexico, and other countries unleash more spectrum into their respective marketplaces to keep up with the pressing demand for wireless services,” said RCR Wireless News Executive Editor Tracy Ford. “Roberta’s knowledge across the IT and telecoms sectors make her well equipped to provide insights and analysis into the burgeoning wireless sector in Latin America.”
