Apple looks to Taiwanese vendors to cut iPad 4 costs

Apple is looking to cut slices out of its iPad 4 bill of materials (BOM) by looking to cheaper Taiwanese integrated circuit designers according to local source DigiTimes.

According to the Taiwanese tech daily, Apple is weighing up its options to extract more profit from future generations of tablet by going with cheaper components. These include bits and bobs from firms like Novatek Microelectronics for LCD drivers, Richtek Technology for integrated power management, Capella Microsystems for the tab’s ambient light sensors and Integrated Memory Logic for programmable gamma.
